Using Apple Cider Vinegar and Garlic For Acid Reflux

Do you suffer from acid reflux (GERD) and the resulting heartburn and indigestion? The reason for these often-painful experiences is that your esophageal sphincter has become soft. This is a muscle, which normally opens to allow food into the stomach and prevent acid from the stomach coming back up. Acid reflux can cause more serious problems if left untreated. However antacids contain a large amount of aluminum and sodium and can with long-term use, cause further damage.

This is what led me first to seek natural cures for GERD/acid reflux. I also needed something that was soothing against the acid-reflux pain.

Where to Start Looking?

So where do you start when looking for a product to reduce acid naturally? I always find scanning the Internet fruitful, a simple search like, natural cure for acid reflux; will turn up a wealth of information. The reason Garlic is so useful is because nearly seventy five percent of all people suffering from acid reflux have also tested positive for helicobacter pylori. Garlic is able to eradicate this and other bacterial organisms that stomach acid has no effect upon. When considering garlic cures for gastric reflux, it is necessary to remember that the garlic should be fresh and crushed before you swallow it.

The Apple Juice Cure?

Much research has been conducted into the apple juice cure for acid reflux and how gerd responds to apple cider vinegar. It has been established that the soluble and insoluble fibers in apple pectin, purge the intestinal tracts, thus maintaining balance in the intestines.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar has all the integrity of the apple but in a form that is more easily assimilated by the body. Investigations into apple cider vinegar have found it contains over ninety different substances. These include more than twenty important trace elements, essential enzymes, minerals, amino acids a number of different acids including malic acid, and fibre in the form of pectin and potash. Apple cider vinegar is an anti spasmodic remedy that is helpful for the esophagus. It is also antiseptic, astringent, antibacterial and anti fungal.

Apple cider vinegar and garlic can be combined for treating and to cure acid reflux naturally. All you need to do is crush a couple of cloves of garlic into a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, refrigerate and take a spoonful for instant relief.

Don’t Like the Taste?

If you have gastric reflux, but don’t like the taste of vinegar, or cider vinegar, then why not use it as a salad dressing at meal times, you won’t be so aware of the taste but it will help to promote normal production of acids and enzymes. Alternatively add some honey and drink.
